Hairstyle Independence Discovery

Hairstyle
In this independence discovery, I learned how to do many different types of hairstyles. This independence discovery teaches me to be creative and try to add some style to the hair.  Whether a women hair or men hair, it is the first most noticeable part of our beauty. It enhances our personality and also an important part of our appearance and sets the tone for our entire look. A bad hair day is just a bad day. With good hairstyle, you also have the confidential and the control of yourself.

Country Events

Country event
In this independence discovery project, I learned about the countries events. I choose one country event from some country than I search and learn about that event. The most thing that I focus on is history, when was it found, when it happening…… After I learned all of that events I created a blog where I can tell information about those events. There are nine festivals that I learned about and there are seven countries. It takes me a couple of weeks to finish this project. I am very glad to learn something new and create something on my own.

Beach Clean Up

I was joined in with the juniors and other senior students in the beach clean-up event that were created by our Liger students. Beach clean up event happen in many countries once a year. We were the first beach clean up team in Cambodia. We were divided into the different team, which each team includes two juniors and two senior. All materials such as wastes bag and survey paper were handed into each team, We left school on the early morning of Saturday and head to down to Kep province. With the arrival of volunteers from Koh Seh island joining with our team, we started to collect wastes on the shore. each type of waste was surveyed into different categories of waste. I felt really satisfied spending my day helping to clean up a part Cambodia. My favorite part of the trip was the collaboration from the kids in the community started to help collect the wastes. This shows that to make a change is hard, but most importantly take step little by little and be a role model. Change people perspectives and start sending inspirations to the little one

Ministry Day

It was a big day on December 12, 2016. There are 60 people from the ministry of education who come to see Liger learning workshop that presented by the Liger students. My session is about STEAM. STEAM stands for science, technology, engineering, art, and math. My role in this workshop is to explain what is STEAM means, explain about performance and about invention convention. our main idea in STEAM session, we want the government to have a STEAM activity like Liger too. I think this activity is really good for the student because it will make they work in a team better and collaborate together. Also, they can have a lot of creative ideas which help their brain think faster and smarter. I really excited about this event because I can share what my experience and my knowledge to the older people. It helps me on my presentation skill too.

Luna Performance

We were invited to sing at the Luna pizza restaurant. It was a marvelous night with all of the audiences and Liger family. I was really nervous but with all of my friend’s support, I felt less nervous during the performance. Everyone did a very good job. The audiences were very supportive and enjoying a lot of our show.

Boot & Toot short story

 

The Solar System

Solar System means the vast place, with lots of empty space between the planets. There are Sun, Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto. All of the planets are born from 45 billion years ago when the Sun was burst. It formed to be a planet like gas planets and terrestrial planets. Gas planets is a solid metals or rock that don’t have the solid surface, you would unable to walk on them. As terrestrial planets are made from mostly of silicate rocks and metals with a solid surface, but the Earth is the only one that has a liquid ocean. So the gas planets are Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune and the terrestrial planets are the four closest planets, except for Pluto because it is the dwarf planets. Also, it’s weight are way less than our Earth, which Jupiter is the largest planet. And Jupiter is only orbiting 12 of earth year around the sun, but Pluto is 248 of earth years. Then the scientist makes a hypothesis that all the planets may come together in a line on May 6 on 2049, It can be called solar day.

Boot and Toot short story:

One day NASA sent a satellite to space with a robot named Boot. Boot’s job was to gather information about all the planets in our solar system. The first stop was Mercury, the closest planet to the Sun. As Boot approached Mercury the temperature raised up about 430 °C because it is only 57.91 million kilometers(km) far from the Sun. Also, The radius of Mercury is 2,440 km and only orbits around the sun about 88 Earth days. So Boot sent this information to NASA with pictures and video. So, Boot, the robot is “happy” and “smiles.”  All the main verbs need to be in the past tense if the story is being told in the past.  Keep it simple.

“Here! I arrive, Venus,” Just a few minutes more to launch on Venus. This is one of the terrestrial planets like Mercury Earth and Mar too. Then Boot starts to work out where to put the camera and measure the size and temperature. So it radius is 105.2 million km. The temperature is 462 °C. As the distance is further than Mercury, it orbits time is 225 Earth days.

“What should I do, if there is hotter than Mercury now?” ask himself with a worried voice. Then he thinks for ten seconds and figures out that he will put some soil or rock on his body to protect with the wire. “Alright! that  was my fabulous work to solve the problem.” Boot smile and fly back to Earth. But he will orbit around Venus half round before launching to NASA station

Boot got to rest, take out all his parts in the body to fix the part that broken. When Boot wakes up he saw his new outfit with a strong one, that can help to walk and stay strong. “I love this” surprise Boot. Then his face back to normal and ask if NASA can build one more rocket to go with him, I feel alone” said Boot, “well, why not? But we need time so you can take this chance to research about our Earth.”Answered NASA.

Boot. got to do this mission on Earth, while he was searching around people follow the question about his mission. Boot stay calm and didn’t say anything to reply because he wants to finish his mission. So the Earth distance is 149.6 million km. The radius is 6,377 km with the temperature of 16 °C and it needs 365 Earth days to orbits around the Sun.

Then Boot comes back with a lot of information and said that Earth has trees and nature that he never saw in his spacewalk before. “So Earth is really unique and beautiful.” wondered Boot “Yes, of course!” NASA reply.

Boot has another mission to spacewalk with Toot, new girl robot. On the way to Mars, it getting colder than Earth, so Toot try to speed up until Mars, Both of them didn’t talk anything to each other yet! because they are shy. Boot shouted “Here! is -55 °C and the distance from the Sun is 227.9 million km.” “I got that Mars orbit time is 687 Earth days and its radius was 3,390 km,” said Toot with a soft voice. All the information that they need is complete. Boot relieved because Toot talked to him, they are a friend now.

Toot was confused the way to go, then Boot got to lead the way. They talk and talks until arriving Jupiter. This is the first gas planet that we had. “So how mäny more are there?” asked Toot “well! there are four more planets to go, but Pluto is a dwarf planet. But we called it in the outer planet.” answered Boot.

After a talk, both of them went to do their work with a smile, but it’s hard because Jupiter is the largest planets in our solar system. The distance from the sun is 778.5 million km and the radius is 69,911 km. It needed 12 Earth years to orbit the Sun, including the temperature range, was -128 °C. SO Boot and Toot had to get the information about the other four, before back to Earth.

When Toot and Boot arrived Saturn “the distance is 1.433 billion km from the sun” shouted Toot. “Why you need to yell?” ask Boot. “So I can tell the information first and you get the orbit time and temperature range” explain Toot. “Alright,” yell boot. “The orbit time is 29 Earth years with a temperature of -168 °C. Also, the radius is 58,232 km. The time that they spend in here is faster than Jupiter, so they went to do their mission in Uranus.

On Uranus is full of ice or snow freeze. So BooT and TooT had to walk slowly with their feets. Also, the distance between the sun is 2.877 billion kilometers and the radius 25,362 kilometers. “Okay, I will not blame you for that” Yelled Toot. With the temperature range of -224 °C and it’s needed to orbit about 84 earth years around the sun. Then they continued to Neptune and the distance from the sun is 4.498 billion kilometer with a radius 24,622 km. Also, the time of orbit around the Sun is 165 earth years with a temperature range of -218 °C.  So Boot and Toot left Neptune to Pluto, the furthest planets of all.

“Finally, we arrive Pluto, the last planet in our Solar system” Said Boot. Pluto is the dwarf planet and it the smallest planet and it also called the outer planet with the smallest size of all. “So what you got about Pluto Toot.” “Well! I think I get a lot of information than you. I got the distance from the sun, I got the temperature range, I got the radius of it.” “So can you tell the information?” asked Boot “sure the distance from the sun is 39.5 astronomical units, it radius 1,186 km, the temperature range is -240 °C get it?” “wow, I got that Pluto takes 247.7 Earth years to orbit the Sun.” “Wow and now our mission is complete now we going to travel to our Earth,” said Boot “Ok let go!.”

I go to unusual school

I go to unusual school. My school is named Liger Learning Center (LLC). At Liger, we have 50 students and there are 25 boys and 25 girls. We have essential like classes math, literacy, Khmer and stem. We also have explorations. My current exploration is called “Hidden Voices”. In our exploration, we wanted to preserve Khmer old songs to share with the next generation. To do that we went on a field trip to interview people. We collected all the information and made a podcast. We have six Core Values at Liger they are integrity, optimism, determination, appreciation, stewardship, and ingenuity. We have four houses for the student. Each house has its own house mom that takes care of us. We have our own independence discovery that what we study what we want to learn .We also have expertise that we learn after lunch. After school, we have after school extension for example guitar, football, and robotics. I go to this unusual school because it amazing and wonderful.

How I change Cambodia I

The thing that I notice that needs to change in Cambodia is education. Education is important all around the world. Everybody needs education especially the children around the world. In Cambodia we have government school and it doesn’t cost any money. It free to all the kids in Cambodia. But the problem in the school there not enough teacher and if we have teacher, some teacher doesn’t have enough education or strategy to teach the students. I wants to talk about the kids that do not have chance to go to school. It have many problem why they can’t go to school. One thing that I see is the most is they poor, so they make their children to work in the factory even their age not yet enough to work in the factory, sometime they make their children to sell flower on the road. It is so dangerous especially in Phnom Penh. They cross the road and the car and motors everywhere. They might get accident by car or motor crash and then they have to go to hospital. They need money to pay to hospital but their family is poor. Other problem is fisheries. Some kids went with their parent to find the fish at the ocean or river . It so dangerous cause the kids might fall off and get drown if they can’t swim. This problem mostly happen at Tunlay Sab lake, They live on the boat. Sometime they might get storm or flood.

2./3. I been told my friend how to recycle a plastic. Once my friend drink water from water bottle. After she drink fins=ish she threw the empty water bottle away. I told her that this is the plastic water bottle. It not broken yet we don’t want to waste the plastic a lot on earth. It take 500 year to decompose the plastic. That is a lot of year we will die and born and die many time. I told her how to recycle plastic to useful thing. Me and my friend took the water bottle and cut the top off and put soil in, and then we take flower seed and put it in the soil. One week later after we both take care and gave enough water everyday the flower start to grow bigger and bigger.

4. I take the baby step for example the plastic water bottle. I took a baby step I can’t go and tell all the people in Cambodia to recycle the plastic to useful thing. I told my friend first and it my baby step. Then is she knew she can tell her family and continues.

5. This year I think im not change yet. But I hope one day in the future I can change Cambodia.

My reflection

Yesterday I learned about how Cambodian economy growth. The articles said that Cambodia is the country on the rise. I was so happy when I hear that even that Cambodia still the lowest economy in southeast Asia. Cambodia is in the middle of growing it means that Cambodia is going to grow and grow quickly over that past 20 years ago that was amazing. 7% growth in GDP each year that was a lot.

 

  • Export was increased by 16.2% that the same as 6.99 billion dollars
  • Garment export was increased by 17.3%
  • Footwear export was increased by 21.3
  • Milled rice export was increased 84% that the same as 379000 tons
  • Tourism was increased by 17.3 is the same as garment
  • Foreign investment in Cambodia was estimated at  1.22 billion in 2013

 

In 2013 Cambodia GDP was growth  7.6%. By the optimistic, we hope that in the future for 5 more years Cambodia will join the AEC which stand for ASEAN  Economic Community which will open new trade  market for Cambodia product. Other is Cambodia workforce will start from low wage for factory worker to have more service.

 

Cambodia have 53% of poverty population in 2004 but in 2013 the number was chang a lot into only 20% of poverty population. This morning I went to import and export expo on diamond Island. I met a lot of the people that went and show the product. The first product is sugar palm I was interested and my group go there. It from my province is Kompong thom. The lady tell me that the palm sugar is from Sun tok mountain in my province. She also said the poor people make it by them self and when they get money they take it and give it to the poverty people for help their family. Also they want to find the market to export to other country too but they don’t know. I went to another place is they make a fish like pro houk. They said before they find the fish but not clean very well but then they have a organization to help them how to protect their health to clean and was their hand properly. It call women fisheries. It come from Pursat at the Tonlesab lake and the women make the fish in to Pro houk or anything else. But we have the same problem again because they want to find a market to export their product.

 

ELC is stand for Economic land Concession. Cambodia have a lot of poverty like a half of the population. 2 things that cause that problem is :

  • have no land
  • Not have formal property right

 

In 2014 55% of rural families either have no land, or do not have enough land to grow a surplus of food. They are only growing enough food to help provide food for their families.

I think it has so many Economics land concession because the people don’t have the paper that they own that land but they live it a long time ago and the garment or other business came and take the land and build the factory. It causes a lot of problem to the people that live in that land example they have no land and also no house, no land to plant the vegetable lose their jobs. Nothing to provide the family, their children can’t go to school they help their family. If they have land they can grow the surplus and provide for the family and also they can sell it to the market and get money to provide anything that their family needed. Also , he children can go to school until university make their future bright and help country develop also their family too.
